  Stefanie-Alraune Siebert
Textile Artist

Life-size human textile figures and hand-sewn delicacies are favorite objects of the textile artist Stefanie-Alraune Siebert of Tuebingen.  In her hands whimsical creatures and accessories come to life.  S. A. S. is not guided by conventional ideals of beauty. Her objects are gaudy and bizarre personages that might have sprung from some remarkable sanatorium.  Viewing them sets the imagination in motion, gives rise to conjecture and poses questions.  The observer is irritated and amused by the tableaux and is invited to join on a voyage of discovery and surprise.

Sixty-one of these figures of art can be staged with their own decorations, tables, chairs and place settings.  The delicacies are made of velvet and silk: lobsters and salmon, cream cakes or petit fours; instruments such as a moiré piano, tuba or accordion; dogs, cats, grotesque plants, cameras and sewing machines…

Each object is unique and not for sale.

Tableaux come alive: “Buffet,” “Gourmet Dinner,” “Among Cooks,” “Wine Tasting,” “Hunting Trip,” “Wedding Party,” “Café Catwalk,” “In the Boudoir,” “Tango, Tango,” “Concert,” “Opera,” “Beauty Contest,” “Food-and-Fashion Fair,” “Variety Show,” among others.

The tableaux are individually assembled for each customer.
